- Textima was an East German state textile machinery combine
- developing machines for the countrys top sportsmen and women
- among collectors the Textima"brand" has come to cover racing bikes created for between 1975 and 1988
- manufactured in special workshops in Leipzig and Chemnitz
- never offered for sale
- each of those was fitted to a specific national cyclist
- road racing bicycles like this were plain blue
- track machines were plain silver
- Textima racing bicycles have bladed "aerodynamic" spokes
- hardened and light magnesium wheel rims
- hyper-short chainstays
- aerodynamically oval or teardrop shaped tubes
- a specially developed precision front brake
- Textimas dignified precision steel bicycles are understated in the story of 20th Century frame building
